Race Day 2025: A Record-Breaking Day of Running and Community Spirit
The Green Park Reading Half Marathon delivered an unforgettable day of racing as nearly 10,000 runners took to the streets, marking one of the most anticipated and best-attended editions of the event yet. With record sign-up numbers, this year’s race proved just how much the running community continues to grow, attracting participants from across the UK and beyond.
The race saw fierce competition, with David Nilsson taking the men’s title in an impressive 01:04:59, followed closely by Blake Moore (01:05:07) and Jonathan Davies (01:05:10), both delivering strong performances to complete the podium. In the women’s category Kate Estlea-Morris stormed to victory, defending her title with a remarkable time of 01:14:16, ahead of Freya Weddell (01:15:15) and Alice Braham (01:16:01), who gave outstanding performances to secure second & third place.
Alongside the half marathon, the Green Park Challenge brought together runners of all ages and abilities for a fun and inclusive just-under-3km race. Families, schools, and community groups took on the challenge, creating an electric atmosphere as they crossed the finish line with huge smiles. Leading the way in the boys’ race, Lorenzo Moss stormed to victory in an impressive 00:08:57, followed by Ewan Shayler (00:09:09) in second place and Sam Weeks (00:09:17) in third. In the girls’ race, Frankie Staker secured first place with a fantastic time of 00:10:27, with Victoria Marsh (00:10:32) close behind in second and Grace Page (00:10:49) taking third.
The Green Park Challenge has long been a highlight of race weekend, and from 2026, it will officially be rebranded as the Mini Marathon. This exciting new chapter will continue to inspire young runners and first-time participants, while still delivering the same inclusive and energetic experience that makes it such a special part of the event.
The atmosphere was electric from start to finish, with spectators lining the course to cheer on runners of all abilities. From seasoned athletes chasing personal bests to first-time half marathoners achieving incredible milestones, the event once again showcased the power of running to unite and inspire the masses.
